Hello! My name is Rachael and I am a graduate intern here at Satya.

My background is in community nonprofit and I decided I wanted to be a therapist after seeing all of the barriers to mental health care that people across different identities face. With this experience, I try to base my practice in social justice, cultural sensitivity and trauma informed care. I operate from a feminist perspective in that I believe that lot of the issues we face today- from anxiety to depression and beyond- are caused and/or exasperated by the systems we create and live in.

Along with this, I utilize power sharing in therapy. I know that asking for help can be scary, and that coming into the space as equals can help with that.  Somatic therapy is also an interest of mine; I believe that in order to treat the mind we must treat the body, and vice versa. Similarly, I think that both holistic and scientific interventions can work together. People are complicated, messy, and do not fit into neat boxes, and their treatment should reflect that. Some of my clinical interests include trauma/ intergenerational trauma, women and chronic illness. I truly believe you already have what you need to heal.
